History
Linen is the most ancient of fabrics, with a rich and romantic heritage. Its widely accepted birth as a textile was in Egypt some 10,000 years ago but there is evidence found in pre-historic caves in Georgia that suggests it might have been used as a textile some 36,000 years ago.

Cultivation
Sowing and Harvesting
-Flax is sown between mid-October and end of November and is ready to be worn (pulled out) after a relatively short period of 100 days. It is harvested between early April and mid-May
Retting
-After wearing out, the stalks are put in the water
-After the outer bark of the flax plants have rotten away, the flax is removed from the water, then spreaded out in swaths on the field to dry in the sun (flax is left in the field to rot) can take 10 to 15 days, depending on temperature and humidity
Ready for Production
When the flax is optimally rooted, it is gather up, and can be stored pending further processing
